Morris joined the board in 1977 and is currently serving as its President. He is an attorney with the firm of Logee, Hostetler, Stutzman & Lehman in Wooster, Ohio and is engaged in the general practice of law. Morris enjoys reading, sports and traveling.
“It has been rewarding to see the vision for OrrVilla as a place of ‘enriched community living’ for older adults emerge and grow over the years with new facilities and programs. I especially value the sense of community and the supportive and caring relationships that exist among residents and staff.”
Art has been the Vice President since 2008, and works in sales and engineering in the electrical and HVAC fields. He enjoys traveling abroad and in the states with his wife, and his hobbies include building/flying radio controlled model airplanes, recreational flying of a 4 passenger airplane, and interacting with their church family.
“I enjoy seeing our senior citizens enjoy our facility and what it offers in a very nicely kept setting. Additionally, it’s great to see the staff enjoy what they’re doing in offering good care and a wide range of activities for our residents.”
Lois began serving approximately 10 years ago. She recently retired as a Church Relations Representative from Everence, a financial services company. Her hobbies include singing/leading small singing groups, reading, playing with her grandchildren, and riding her bike.
“My mother has been a resident in OrrVilla’s assistant living program for the past four and a half years. I have personally witnessed the quality care she has received, the good food and the excellent programming, which is making her time at OrrVilla comfortable and enjoyable.”
Virgil has served since 1996 (with 5 years absence from 2008-2013 for a term with MCC). He is Director of MCC Connections, a non-profit Thrift Shop supporting the work of Mennonite Central Committee. He was previously in healthcare management and accreditation. Virgil is an avid birdwatcher and enjoys traveling, especially internationally.
“I work with a large group of senior volunteers at MCC Connections and have come to appreciate that seniors have a lot to offer to society from their years of life experience. For me, making OrrVilla a place of dignity and a place for seniors to continue to contribute is a focus and mission that is very rewarding.”
Renee has over 30 years of experience in the Long Term Healthcare field as an Accountant and Reimbursement Specialist. She is currently working as a Senior Accountant for a large Skilled Nursing and Intermediate Care Facility chain with homes throughout Ohio. Renee is an active member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church and serves on several committees and plays piano with the Worship Team. She is an avid sports fan and rarely misses watching the Cleveland Indians. She and husband John also stay busy caring for their adult daughter with developmental disabilities.
“I first became aware of OrrVilla when my parents moved into Independent Living, and now my mother as a resident of the Assisted Living Unit. They very much enjoyed the activities and the sense of community they felt with people they shared so much in common with. I enjoy being a part of the Board and continuing the tradition of providing quality care in a compassionate and nurturing environment.”
David has been a board member since 2016. He retired from Mennonite Mutual Insurance Company as President and CEO. He enjoys reading, bicycling, playing with his grandchildren, and traveling.
“I chose to serve on the OrrVilla board to help provide high quality services for clients like my 104-year-old mother-in-law, Grace Geiser, and to assure long-term sustainability of OrrVilla.”
Although Steve has retired as President of SmithFoods Inc. he remains Chairman of its board. He continues to serve on the dairy industry boards of International Dairy Foods Association, Quality Chekd Dairies, QCS, and the Ohio Dairy Foods Association. Steve’s hobbies include landscaping his yard, reading, and candle making. Cathy & he have three grown children. They attend Wooster Mennonite Church where he serves as its treasurer.
